The stylists of our studio are basically the heart of the business, so of course we’ve made our team up with professionals who love helping our clients look and feel their very best each and every day. Meet our newest pro-stylist, Lacey, and discover what fires her passion!
What made you want to be a stylist?
It kind of happened by accident, hair was something I was always interested in as a kid, I was always playing and trying out new styles on my hair and my friends’ hairs. I had never really considered it as a career until I learned my high school had a cosmetology course, and I figured I should give it a shot. I really enjoyed it and I have never looked back because I had found a passion I didn’t know I had. I was never one of those kids that was dead set on a career when they were little and I never knew what I wanted to do. So, I’m glad I happened to take a chance on something I ended up falling in love with!
What is the best part about being a stylist?
The best part about being a stylist is getting to connect with other people! I get to meet so many different and interesting people, and my job is never boring!
If you could cut, color, and style anyone’s hair, who would it be?
I would actually love to get my hands in Jennifer Aniston’s hair. She created the iconic “Rachel” hairstyle in Friends and her hair is always so perfect, no matter what cut or color she has.
What is your favorite cut to do on a client?
For men, I love doing fades. I am a perfectionist, and a perfect fade gives me so much satisfaction! For women, my favorite cut is a long bob (lob)! It is so versatile and you have to get creative with the layering. When done correctly, it can be so sleek and smooth when its straight, but also have lots of movement and texture when you add some curl!
Who would you say is your biggest influence?
I have a two actually! Briana Cisneros is amazing. She posts incredibly helpful Instagram videos on new cut and color techniques. Stephanie Brinkerhoff (Hair and Makeup by Steph) creates the most dreamy and romantic bridal styles. I love challenging myself to try and re-create some of her styles. The passion both of them have for what they do is so inspiring.
When getting a new client, what is the first thing you ask during a consultation?
“What do you like about your hair right now, and what bothers you about your hair right now?” Those questions help me identify any problems that they are having with their hair, whether it is styling, the cut, or the color. It also helps me see what they like about their hair, and then I can figure out how to enhance that feature!
Alright enough about hair, let’s get to know a little more about you! What’s your favorite season and why?
Fall is my absolute favorite!! I love the changing of the leaves, the start to the cold weather, and the clothes! I love layering sweaters, flannels, boots, there are so many more options in the Fall. The hair trends change a little too, from all blondes all summer to some warm rich reds!
If you could go any place in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to travel Europe. Take a few weeks and see a little bit of everything: France, Spain, Italy, Greece, the UK. I’d love to see it all! I’ve actually never been out of the country before, it’s always been a dream of mine.
And last but not least, what’s your favorite comfort food?
Cookies. Warm, melted chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven are my sweet spot, but I won’t turn down a Chips Ahoy cookie either…
