This past weekend we had the incredible honor of working with some of our favorite ladies from the Hanover area, instead of getting them ready for prom this time, The Glam Squad helped get them ready for the Miss Hanover Abilities Pageant! It was amazing being able to see so many familiar faces especially because they were just as excited to see us as we were to see them!
Jane, one of our glammies, enjoyed her self so much that when I asked her if she wanted to guest blog about the event she was more than happy to oblige! Jane was part of the team that helped to get the girls ready for the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine event, so when she heard about this pageant she was one of the first glammies to put her name on the list to attend! And that is why I am so very happy that today’s blog post is all from her point of view and about how much she loves being able to participate in events like this!
Jane: It was such an honor to be able to volunteer for the Miss Hanover Abilities Pageant! After I left the Night To Shine Prom I was filled with so much adrenaline and happiness that I knew the next time we had an event like this I was going to to be a part of it!
It is absolutely wonderful that these girls got the opportunity to showcase their talents during the pageant and have a chance to just relax and be pampered before hand!
The amount of confidence that it takes to stand in front of a crowd and do what these girls are doing, I know that it wouldn’t be easy for me to get up in front of a group of people like that! The best thing is that it just sort of flowed from them completely! Even before I touched the makeup brush to their faces, they already seemed to have all the confidence that they needed for that night!
It brings me so much joy knowing that events like this are happening in the community around me! You could just tell from the excitement in the room the empowerment that these girls felt even before the event started! I think for these girls, and honestly for anyone for that matter, it is so important to focus on not what you can’t do, but instead what you can do!
This pageant is a fantastic outlet for these girls to demonstrate their abilities and amazing personalities! I’d like to think that in some small way, The Glam Squad and I were able to help enhance the event, and make the experience just a little more special for these girls!”
I started the Glam Squad to follow my dreams, and along the way I found myself being inspired by the women in my life and the women I met. Which is why a large part of what The Glam Squad focuses on is the empowerment of all women and girls!
Giving back to the community is something that is so close to all of our hearts hear at the Glam Squad and I can honestly tell you, even though we try our best to empower the people that we encounter but when we left that night, the girls from the pageant where the ones who empowered and inspired us!
