Lou Day Tuesday: Time for Some Advice

September 27, 2016

I’ll be honest, I’m not always the best when it comes to removing makeup. But It’s a question I get asked often during my weddings. Brides and bridesmaids always ask how our air brush makeup comes off or if the eyelashes that we use are hard to get off and the answer to that question is no!

Removing makeup is so important to keep your pores healthy and to prevent breakouts (I even love to have makeup days to make sure my skin stays healthy!)

There are so many ways to remove your makeup and there is something right for everyone! Since working in this industry for over 25 years, I’ve pretty much tried every technique and trick in the book. A great natural remover is honey and baking soda. I  know it sounds so weird, but trust me when I say that it removes any and all types of makeup. Yes even waterproof, and the best part is it makes your skin feel absolutely amazing. All you have to do is put a little honey and baking soda on a washcloth and then cleanse away.

Another great tip I’ve picked up is baby wipes. Makeup remover wipes can be so expensive so instead baby wipes. I carry them with me everywhere and so do a lot of our stylists. They are gentle on the face and can come fragrance free so there are no issues with breaking out or dryness. They are my go to when I’m out or traveling and need something quickly.

If you are looking for a great way to open up your pores, try steam. I know it sounds age old and something your grandmother would say but trust me, it works. fill up a large bowl or basin (who even says basin anymore?) with really hot water and lean your face over it. It will open your pores and also make it easier to remove makeup!

My absolute favorite product right now though are the JAPONESQUE create beauty wipes that were a gift from Ryan Jones! I love that they are individually wrapped for travel, environmentally friendly because they are even biodegradable! The cloths are extra soft and hydrating and dissolve waterproof mascara in no time. I’m totally obsessed with them!

Lastly, if you have dry skin (my life story in the winter) try using a little olive oil to remove your makeup. It has a ton of nutrients that benefit your skin as well as keep it extremely soft and glowing![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
